How to declare font in website

You have to declare font for website.But one thing keep in mind that  though you have declared,the font must be also present in the user's system or computer.

Subject to availability-what is that

Say you want to choose Georgia font for text in website,thus the required html will be
  • font-family: Georgia;
But the fact you should keep in mind that,when a visitor visits your website ,he may not have the Georgia font in his system.What will happen then?

Close match to your font

When system does not have the font required ,then it will use the closest matched or almost same type font.Are you going to take this risk,that your webpage look odd and content spill out ,mixed up as your selected font is not found

Back up font for your website
